Fandom 50 S4 Post 8: a bouquet of SWIM

glitteryvSince I've yet to be able to put all of my Arirang thoughts in a cohesive order (tho I'm planning to post abt that wonderful album soon-ish. At least BEFORE the month is over), I figured this would be a good time to post the many performances and MV version of "SWIM", i.e. the album's title track.
"SWIM" is a v. chill song that I've grown to love (though I was a bit ???? abt it at first due to a v. special reason:
I really, really don't like the official MV, LOL. FWIW, it's a perfectly okay video, but I really didn't care abt the storyline, it had too much of Lili Reinhart and (by consequence) too little of the Tannies. FWIW, I've only watched it twice and don't plan to every watch it again. *Hands*
INSTEAD of reccing it (tho I'll link to it at the bottom of this post), I've opted to showcase all of the other content for the song.
Starting with the FAR SUPERIOR Performance MV. Not only is this 100% all Tannies, all the time but it gives viewers more than enough time to enjoy their fits AND the choreo. Yoongi just abt KILLED ME with that knit sweater. The AUDACITY of showing so much of his shoulder!!! <3___<3!
This one is a performance they filmed at the Guggenheim Museum for the Jimmy Fallon show. The song's vibes really fits the setting.
A new live video was filmed at Sunhyewon, a cultural space in SK. This one is nothing other than PERFECTION.
I'm not counting this a spoiler cuz it's a performance than anything else. ANYWAY, at the end of BTS: The Return (their new docu on Netflix), BTS does a live performance of the song. Love the camera work here.
Last week, there was a NEW live performance video announced: "SWIM (Swimming Pool ver.)". Since a lot of the solo era of Chapter 2 involved certain members showing SKIN (from bare arms like Jin to full on nipples on display like Hobi, Jimin, V, and Jungkook), ARMYs were OJOing this relase.
OFC, we all ended up getting 🤡 cuz BTS are the biggest goofballs . . .

Date: 2026-04-06 04:06 pm (UTC)The Guggenheim museum performance! Yoongi in glasses 😍 and Namjoon's whole fit and look, just perfect museum vibes and I can only assume he was geeking out in there before and after.
Sunhyewon version was beautifully lit and filmed.
The camerawork in the live studio one left me a bit dizzy. I see what they were going for there, but there were a lot of shots of the backs of people's heads
The swimming pool version is adorable and has left me with an intense need for Namjoon/Hoseok bodyguard AU fic...

Date: 2026-04-06 04:35 pm (UTC)What's funny is that twice I was ready to post this and twice I was stopped cuz there was yet ANOTHER MV version dropping! Mind you, that's not a complaint on my part! I sure loved having a variety of videos to enjoy vs. having to deal with the original version that I don't click with at all.
Oh, I do hope there's some (eventual) footage of Joonie geeking out at the Guggenheim. Hopefully, he got to catch some of the art before they all had to head back to their hotel.
Though I do agree with all of your opinions abt the MVs, my favorite remains the Performance version. I "blame" Yoongi's fit.
