Fandom 50 Post 12: The Return of The BOYZ
Apr. 12th, 2023 03:54 pmTrying to tackle the remaining 7 or so dance practice posts before the month is over. #WishMeLuck
ANYWAYS, abt a month and a half ago, The BOYZ did their latest comeback with the BE AWAKE mini-album. IMO, it's a pretty solid record. My fave song is Diamond Life. The number of times I've played that song... 😅
The title track was "Roar" which, according to the presentation, was a kind of sequel to "Whisper". An R&B pop song, "Roar" draws you in. Fun fact: the mv was directed by the same dude who directed the much-loved "HOT" mv by Seventeen.
TW/CW: there are a couple of quick scenes featuring blood; super fast and vibrant edits and other kinds of visual f/x.
This is the one time where I really loved watching the dance practice. This is the fixed version. IF you want the close-ups (and won't get queasy by the camera panning left and right AND zooming in and out, here's the moving version.
PERSONALLY, I feel there's an even trade-off w/r/t the fixed version. Sure, we can't quite see the members' faces BUT, in return, we ARE able to enjoy the formations as well as the sheer artistry in every pose. One thing that TBZ absolutely excels at is doing a good mix of sharp movements and more fluid, almost-ballet like ones. <3____<3
This is, imo, one of the best performances for this song.
TW for: Korean music show camerawork (lots of tilting, zooming in/out, etc); bright and flashing lights; sudden cuts.
One thing that makes it stand out (for me, at least) is the guys' costume being distinct enough among the members. I also really like most of the way the performance was filmed. Finally, few things are as thrilling as hearing Deobi/The B doing top-notch fanchants.
Meanwhile, this other performance is all abt the choreo. It's also great for those times when you want to focus on a specific member w/o having to hunt down fancams. Ymmv, etc.
The BOYZ will return at least one more time before I move to the next theme. 😉
