Last post of the Dance Practices, woot!
Fun fact: it was THIS routine that made me think of doing posts abt Kpop dancers chosen from artists I enjoy listening to and/or am an actual fan of. :P
ANYHOO, I might have ranked another group as no.1 but, if there's something that I know in my heart of hearts is that The BOYZ are riiiiiiiight on the other group's heels when it comes to dancing prowess. Like SVT, having a large number of members (11 in TBZ's case) is a boon of sorts: formations, dance steps, and the overall energy are magnified until the only thing one can do is letting it all wash over. One of the ways in which they diverge is in TBZ's INTENSE ENTHUSIASM for any and all concepts thrown at them. (Which isn't to say that SVT doesn't do concepts. Still, imo, TBZ does outshine them in this one aspect. YMMV, etc)
FWIW, I legit don't remember when I found this specific performance (though I'm guess it had to be sometime between November of '22 and January of '23?, but it's deffo one I've watched a ton of times!
This is from the third episode of the survival show Road to Kingdom. 7 boy groups (TBZ, Pentagon, ONF, Golden Child, Verivery, Oneus, TOO) battled it out across 8 episodes to earn a spot on Kingdom: Legendary War. I had intended to watch enough episodes (if not the entirety of the show) by the time I was going to do this post. Alas.
Moving on. This version of "Reveal (Catching Fire version)" is one of those performances that are ridiculously memorable.
I'll begin with the Live Performance
In order to provide maximum enjoyment, I'm linking to two versions of the SAME performance. The one (1) difference is that this first video cuts away to show reactions from the other groups witnessing the OTTNESS OF IT ALL. I luuuuuuurve how everyone was stunned into complete O___O as the performance went on.
Trigger warnings: lots of flashing lights and dizzying camera shots. Also, at one point, two people's hands are momentarily lit on fire (it's more of a flash fire and NO ONE is harmed.)
Again, this other video is the SAME performance. This time shown straight-thru.
The Dance Practice
22 minutes and 32 seconds of the long rehearsals to get every part of the performance as flawless as it could possibly be.
I specifically *___* two segments (from 6:50 thru 7:00 and from 17:15 thru 17:30) in which the guys are dancing in full formation. My first thought was of watching a modern version of a Busby Berkley musical movie: from the precision to the intense energy everyone is giving off as they move thru the choreo. I really loved it and, ngl, it ended up earning TBZ even more than I'd expected.
For completion's sake OR to work as a refresher, here's the official music video
I'll back in a couple of days with the NEXT Fannish 50 Theme. :DDDD!
