All right, so I'm back to wrap up the Dance Practices portion of the Fannish 50. Since I've already got something planned for June--which begins on, gulp, Thursday--I'm gonna be doing 2-for-1 posts over the next couple of days. :P
Today, I want to place the spotlight on the solo efforts of two BTS members. Because, WHY NOT? XD
In all truth, this one is a bit of cheeky inclusion in this part of the Fannish 50. For one thing, there's NO live performance of the dance. OTOH, however, Yoongi himself has mentioned that he's been taking dance lessons ever since Chapter 2 started/BTS went on a sorta-hiatus (as a group). There's even 10-minute video of him taking hip-hop dance lessons.
FTR, Yoongi is, despite not being a natural dancer like Hobi or Jimin are, rather graceful when it comes to dancing. He also has good sense of blocking and doing sharp movements. Here he is practicing for "That That" (the PSY song he co-wrote, co-produced, AND featured in):
(Okay, okay, I'll own up to wanting to include this video cuz of the「 -ㅅ-「 「 -ㅅ-「 ㄱ -ㅅ-ㄱ「 -ㅅ-「 captions. Hehehehe.)
In any case, a little over a month ago, SUGA dropped the third album in his AgustD trilogy. Titled "D-Day", it has one title track and two promo tracks. "Haegeum" was the title track. The video (which is the middle part in the Daechwita trilogy--with the 2020 MV "Daechwita" as the first entry and "AMYGDALA" as the third one tying everything together) is a noir mini-movie.
Trigger/Content warnings: Lots of flashes, fast cuts, some blood, characters are shown being harmed (by waterboarding), one character is shot off-screen, characters are shown holding and pointing guns, onscreen (but slightly off-camera) murder by stabbing (some blood splashes upwards but the body is not shown).
Even putting the actual!MV aside (which also has AgustD smoking), the lyrics are KILLA TO THE MAX. I'll admit that it took me a few (more than two, less than 10) times to follow the lyrics thru. The direct messaging abt breaking away from what's expected, learning to think not only for yourself but also critically, to QUESTION things not because you're contrarian but because there usually is some kind of hidden agenda, etc.
All in all, this is one of those songs that works on EVERY level: melody-wise, lyically, and as the kind of song that (if one wants to) leads one to recalibrate one's thinking. I love it to bits (like the rest of the album.)
Now, to date, AgustD hasn't shown any kind of dancing performance in the 14 (and counting) live concerts in the US and Indonesia. However, for whatever reason, he decided to post this all-too-short dance practice for the song.
And, yeah, behold dancer!Yoongi. It's definitely a demanding choreo. I like how it's got so many of Yoongi's natural movements incorporated (such as the intense way he waves his arms at times.) It was a treat that was replicated across the HYBE building as there were uploads of the dance challenge for a while.
For funsies, here's a 19-min behind-the-scenes video of said dance challenges featuring Hobi; Jimin; TXT's Yeonjun and Taehyun; NEWJEANS' Hanni; SVT'S Boo, DK, Woozi, and Hoshi; le Sserafim's Yunijn and Chaewon all appear in the Bangtan Bomb:
It legit warmed my heart to see him interacting with all of his dongsaengs. One positive change from Chapter 2 is all this footage of BTS hanging out with/working with other idols.
This is a live performance of "Haegeum" from the SUGA: Road to D-Day documentary. I love all of it.
Jimin
Now, as for Jimin, well, he surpassed EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. OF. MY. EXPECTATIONS when it came to his FACE (his first solo album). The lead single, "Like Crazy"'s MV is on the edge of surreal and sensuality--with a heaping of underlying sadness.
In my (and other folks') opinion is also awesomecakingly queer. One point of contention was the moment when Jimin "meets" the young woman at the club. It's not a romantic moment as some ppl might think; it's actually male!Jimin meeting his female counterpart.
Moving on.
The choreo is beautiful...
...and also plenty horny, LOL. I love seeing coed dancers. Also, even tho the choreo looks so easy, it really isn't. On a technical side, Jimin and the crew's smooth moves are a reflection of their talent.
The live performance
In other words, BTS can deffo DANCE.

Kicking things off, here's SUGA...
