Date: 2024-11-12 06:16 pm (UTC)The author did a good thing by shifting things a little (modernize the setting, make it influencers, give the characters different genders and sexualities, etc), but then she kept the story exactly the same. So now, what could've been an interesting take was nothing but a facsimile.
FTR, there are v. gushy reviews for that book. My best guess is that those folks have never read the original novel, LOLsob.
